(June 20, 2024 – Easton, MD) – Chesapeake Community Development, a subsidiary of The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc), is excited to announce a public community meeting to discuss the redevelopment of the former Perdue grain facility on Brookletts Avenue into Easton Crossing, a mixed-use development. The community meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Brookletts Place Senior Center, located at 400 Brookletts Avenue, Easton, MD 21601.
Attendees can expect a structured listening session, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at understanding the unique needs of the East End. Chris Wheedleton of Rivers & Roads will moderate the session, ensuring inclusive dialogue among all participants.
“We are very eager to engage with the local community to hear their needs first-hand,” said Jonathon Rondeau, President & CEO, The Arc. “Our goal is to gather valuable insights and feedback about the residential and commercial needs of the community in the East End and Easton as a whole.”
Easton Crossing will feature a mix of housing, including opportunities for affordable and market rate rentals. The site will also include retail and recreation spaces. Pending community listening sessions and site plan approval, construction is anticipated to begin in 2026.
Chesapeake Community Development encourages all residents, business owners, and community leaders to attend the meeting. The input gathered will be instrumental in shaping Easton Crossing to best serve the community’s interests. This is an excellent opportunity for the community to directly influence a project that will have lasting impacts on the area’s growth and development.
Together with The Arc and Chesapeake Neighbors, Chesapeake Community Development is partnering with several Eastern Shore-based organizations to lead the construction of Easton Crossing and Silo Square.
