The Laura House

Chesapeake Community Development is building a 5,500+-square-foot historic home to create The Laura House. Once completed, this property will boast 7 two-bedroom apartment units. Located on August Street in downtown Easton, this property is part of Chesapeake Community Development’s small-scale, scattered-site approach.

The Laura House combines both affordable housing and market-rate housing, supporting Chesapeake Community Development’s mission of creating inclusive and equitable communities. Currently under construction, the development is scheduled to open in Spring 2025.

Easton Crossing

Easton Crossing, a transformative mixed-use development located on a 6.5-acre former grain silo site. Phase One construction is slated to begin in 2026. Designed with community input, several public meetings have been held to gather feedback and ensure the project aligns with local needs and values. The development will offer around 120 residential units, with 30% designated as affordable housing and 70% as market-rate, helping to address the area’s growing demand for diverse housing options.

In addition to its residential offerings, Easton Crossing will feature approximately 20,000 square feet of commercial space facing the Rail-to-Trails, fostering economic growth and creating a lively hub for both residents and visitors. The community-driven design also includes open green spaces, a fishing pond, a dog walking trail, and other amenities aimed at enhancing quality of life. The Rail-to-Trails runs through the site, providing a key connection for recreation and transportation. By incorporating feedback from the public and blending residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, Easton Crossing will become a vibrant new development that reflects the aspirations and needs of Easton’s residents.
